On behalf of Chief Paul R. Toussaint, the Rochester Police Department releases the following:
On the evening of July 13, 2018 at approximately 10:59 PM, the Rochester Police Department, Rochester Fire Department and Frisbie EMS responded to the area of 100 Ten Rod Road for a report of a rollover collision involving a single vehicle. Upon arrival, a 2007 Nissan Altima was found on its driver’s side partially on the roadway with the operator unconscious and unresponsive inside. Members of the Rochester Fire Department had to shore up the vehicle as it was unstable before any rescue operations could commence. The operator of the vehicle, Heather Roland, age 29 of Rochester, was observed to be unconscious inside. She was not utilizing her seat belt. She was extricated by the fire department and Frisbie EMS and was subsequently airlifted to the Maine Medical Center due to the perceived seriousness of her injuries.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in this collision and this collision is still under investigation. The roadway was closed for about an hour as Roland was extricated and the scene investigation completed. Criminal charges may be forthcoming.
