On behalf of Chief Paul R. Toussaint, the Rochester Police Department releases the following:
On August 14, 2018 at approximately 7:36pm, Rochester Police, Rochester Fire, and Frisbie EMS responded to the intersection of Highland Street and Salmon Falls Road for a report of a three-vehicle collision, and that one of the vehicles was on fire. Police officers were on foot nearby for an unrelated incident, and upon hearing the collision, ran over to the scene and put the fire out using a fire extinguisher.
The investigation revealed that Rosalie Goodwin, age 63 of Rochester, was travelling eastbound on Highland Street in a Kia Forte, proceeding through intersection of Salmon Falls Road under a green light. Sharon Zampieri, age 67 of Rochester, was travelling westbound on Highland Street in a Pontiac Firebird, turning left at the intersection intending to head southbound on Salmon Falls Road under a solid green light. The Kia collided with the passenger side door of the Firebird as it turned in front of the Kia. The force of the collision caused the Firebird to collide with a Chevrolet Cruze which was stopped at the red light on the northbound side of Salmon Falls road, operated by Maggie Brunelle, age 24 of Farmington.
All vehicles suffered significant damage and were towed from the scene. All parties were wearing their seatbelts, and the airbags deployed on the Chevrolet. No parties were injured. Zampieri was issued a summons for failing to yield the right of way when turning left, a violation level offense.
