On 1/31/2019 at approximately 10:54PM Rochester Police and Rochester Fire responded to the area of Salmon Falls Road between Whitehall Rd. and Portland St. for a report of a motor vehicle fire. Upon arrival the Rochester Police and Fire Departments located a Nissan Altima fully engulfed in flames. While the Fire Fighters dealt with the vehicle, police shut down Salmon Falls Road and diverted vehicle traffic around the area via Portland St. and Whitehall Rd. Responding Police Officers located a male in the area who was ultimately determined to be the owner and operator of the vehicle. The cause of the fire was unable to be determined but as a result of the investigation Jason Chapman, age 39 of Farmington NH was arrested and charged with Driving After Suspension (Class A Misdemeanor) and Driving While intoxicated 2nd Offense (Class A Misdemeanor). It is unknown if the vehicle was involved in a collision prior to the fire occurring.
