On May 11, 2019 at approximately 12:16 A.M. the Rochester Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle accident in the area of 106 Whitehouse Road. Initial reports said that a single vehicle had struck a tree in front of a residence at that address. Police, Fire and EMS responded to the scene. Officers found that a 2013 GMC 1500 operated by Ryan Cassavechia, 45 of Rochester, was travelling West on Whitehouse Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree head on. Witnesses at the scene stated that the vehicle veered off the road suddenly before striking the tree. Cassevechia was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries. The GMC suffered heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Officers responded to Frisbie Memorial Hospital where they continued their investigation. Cassavechia was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving Under The Influence-Subsequent, Acts Prohibited- Possession of Controlled/Narcotic Drugs, and Operating Without A Valid License. Cassavechia will be arraigned in the Strafford County Superior Court on May 23, 2019 at 12:30 P.M.
