On Wednesday July 24, 2019, around 10:00 pm, Rochester Police responded to the area of Lafayette St and Moores Ct for the report of a fight. It was reported 3-4 people were physically fighting in the street. It was then reported that one person involved may have a gun and then reported that someone was now shooting.
Police arrived on scene and were told several people involved had already left the area. There was evidence found consistent with shots having been fired, but no evidence or reports of any injuries.
During their investigation, Police then issued a Be on the Lookout, BOLO, for a white late model Chevy Blazer type vehicle with loud exhaust that some people involved left the area in before Police arrived.
As a result of their on scene investigation, Police arrested James Belanger, 21, of Lafayette St in Rochester, for two counts of Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon (both Felony offenses). Belanger was held on $500 cash bail and scheduled to be arraignment Thursday July 25, 2019 in Strafford County Superior Court at 12:30 pm.
Also arrested was Kathleen Belanger, 60, of Lafayette St in Rochester, for Falsifying Physical Evidence (B Felony). Kathleen bailed and released on personal recognizance and scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday August 8, 2019 in Strafford County Superior Court at 12:30pm.
Police are still looking to locate and identify everyone involved and are actively investigating the incident. Police believe those involved are known to each other and there is no danger to the public. More charges may result as the investigation continues.
