On behalf of Chief Paul Toussaint, the Rochester Police Department releases the following:
On 8/2/2019 at approximately 6:18 PM Rochester Police, Rochester Fire, and Frisbie EMS responded to the area of Salmon Falls Rd and Jamey Dr near Charles Prescott Estates for a report of a vehicle motor vehicle accident involving a car and a motorcycle. The investigation revealed that Ernest Scurrah, (age 74 of East Rochester, NH) was operating a Maroon Ford Fusion pulling out from Jamey drive and turning onto Salmon Falls Rd. Daniel Demeritt (age 66 of New Durham) was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling north on Salmon Falls Rd. Demeritt braked but was unable to stop before striking the Ford fusion. Demeritt was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for serious but non life threatening injuries. The accident resulted in a closure of Salmon Falls Rd for approximately 1 hour. With summer weather here the roads of the City of Rochester are occupied by motorcycles, automobiles, bicycles and pedestrians. The Rochester Police Department would like to once again remind all of our residents and visitors to stay aware of the others around them using the road and to follow all applicable rules of the road to ensure the safety of everyone.
