On May 17, 2020 at approximately 12:39 A.M. the Rochester Police, Fire and Frisbie Memorial Hospital EMS were dispatched to the area of Highland Street and Eastern Avenue for a reported motor vehicle rollover. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and located a 2002 GMC K 1500 in the woods on it’s roof. The driver of the vehicle who was identified as Christopher States 22, of East Rochester, New Hampshire was located trapped under the vehicle. Emergency crews were able to extricate States from the vehicle and he was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for treatment for unknown injuries.
Officers initiated an investigation at the scene and determined that the vehicle was travelling Southeast on Highland Street when it initially left the roadway approximately 800 feet from where it was located. It appeared that States attempted to regain control of vehicle but was not able to do so before striking a tree and flipping. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was removed from the scene. Officers responded to Frisbie Memorial Hospital to continue with the investigation. States was later transferred from Frisbie Memorial Hospital to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. The investigation is on-going. If anyone witnessed this collision or has any information they are asked to contact Officer Carl Root at the Rochester Police Department at 603-330-7128.
